Job Description and Duties

Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises the Communications Training Program instructional staff
  • Assists with the design, development, implementation, and update of training for Public Safety Dispatchers (PSD)/Public Safety Operators (PSO)
  • Provides classroom instruction in various Peace Officer and Standards Training (POST) certified courses
  • Oversees and facilitates the Communications Training Officer course, Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor (PSDS) I/II forums
  • Completes special projects as assigned

Working Conditions

This position is  considered  an administrative assignment ;  consequently ,  only  current  CHP Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I will be considered for this assignment. The incumbent will be  expected  to meet the minimum 24  months duration of the assignment, and the normal maximum duration of 48 months in accordance  with  General Order (G . 0.) 10 . 6, Field and Headquarters Assignments  and  Transfers Nonuniformed Employees. Extensions  of  Adm i nistrative Assignments may be  granted.

Travel may be required. Tolerates a confined workspace with prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing and performs effectively under stress and time constraints.

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

The PSDS I selected to fill the position is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing their assigned tasks. Additionally, the selected individual have:

• A current POST Associate Instructor Certificate

• Knowledge of POST standards for PSDs/PSOs

• On-the-job training and/or teaching experience

• Exceptional interpersonal and time management skills

• Ability to work well in a small team environment

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Knowledge of departmental budget and administrative processes
