Description Job Title: Payroll Specialist Location: Hayward, CA (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote) Type: Contract-to-Permanent Pay Rate: $34 - $39 per hour Start Time: Flexible (Between 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM) Overview: Robert Half is currently partnering with a non-profit church based in Hayward to recruit a Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-permanent opportunity. This mission-driven organization is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to a meaningful cause. Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 115 employees, including both W-2 and 1099 workers. The ideal candidate is quick to learn, adaptable, and enthusiastic about career growth. Experience with Paylocity is strongly preferred. Familiarity with accounts payable, receivable, and bookkeeping is a plus. Key Responsibilities: + Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using Paylocity + Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations + Address and resolve payroll-related questions and discrepancies + Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality + Provide support with light accounts receivable/payable and general bookkeeping + Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth operations Requirements Candidate Qualifications: + Prior experience in payroll processing; Paylocity experience strongly preferred + Knowledge of basic accounting principles (AR/AP/bookkeeping a plus) + High attention to detail with strong organizational skills + Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude + Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment + Flexible, trainable, and motivated to grow within the organization Schedule & Work Environment: + Hybrid role: 3 days onsite in Hayward, 2 days remote + Start time: Flexible between 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM + Employment Type: Contract-to-permanent, with opportunity for long-term employment This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to join a purpose-driven organization with a supportive and collaborative team culture.
