Job Description

Primary Function Build curriculum, implement programming, manage compliance and evaluation throughout the teen program in BGCD. Supervise service delivery in the teen center, including direct supervision of all volunteers and partners. With the senior leadership, develop and maintain community collaborations and relationships, budget development and management, crisis preparedness, safety, membership recruitment and retention goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities :
  • Create and facilitate a comprehensive youth life and workforce readiness program focused on high school graduation, viable career options upon graduation, and life-skill development.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with businesses, universities, trade schools, high schools, caregivers, public and civic groups, social service agencies and local governments.
  • Develop a creative recruitment and retention teen strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction to mission aligned partners and volunteers for successful execution of annual program goals and tracking of desired outcomes.
  • Build a mentorship program to ensure each teen has an adult mentor upon high school graduation.
  • Assist with leading the Board of Directors Life & Workforce Readiness Committee, and serve as liaison to other assigned Trustee committees, like the Scholarship Committee, and community groups.
  • Manage financial resources by working with the CEO, CFO, and other senior leadership staff to develop annual budgets and the approval and control of Club expenditures.
  • Oversee the effective management of high school disciplinary matters.
  • Represent the organization and interpret organizational objectives and programs for the community at large.
  • Provide reports and analysis to support the fund raising, grant, and other compliance requirements as well as other reports or data collection required of Clubs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervision
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and supervision of all volunteers.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and regular appraisal to program staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to Club policies.
  • Serve as direct supervisor of the Teen Program Coordinator and other LWFR part-time staff.
  • Facilitate the hiring and recruiting for all LWFR staff, and when appropriate, follow the necessary plan of discipline in accordance with the BGCD Employee handbook. 
  • Conduct weekly Club staff meetings.  
  • Document member disciplinary incidents, contact caregivers, and follow the necessary action plan.
Leadership
  • Act on behalf of the Club to interpret the Boys & Girls Club mission to the community.
  • Establish and maintain a positive public image by leading community networking initiatives
  • Lead and support staff in a manner that will ensure a positive and nurturing Club environment that fosters their growth and development.
  • Participate and facilitate leadership discussions when necessary.
Collaboration
  • Maintain and establish community partnerships that support the needs of the members. 
  • Work closely with President/CEO and leadership team to determine programs goals and outcomes.
  • Co-chair Board led Life and Workforce Readiness committee.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) and Administrative Office Staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain, or interpret guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.

External:   Builds relationships and maintains contact as needed with external community groups, agencies, schools, United Way, board members, and others to network, collaborate and/or assist in resolving problems.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Inside average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature between 68 and 76F. Travel to Club Sites required as well as some outdoor activity. Mileage reimbursement provided or vehicle expense negotiable.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of high school students.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with Boards and Community Groups.
  • Demonstrated ability in recruitment and retention of teens.
  • Strong, professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate teens.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members discipline problems as well as caregivers.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Ability to assist in fundraising events and compliance issues related to grant administration.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to work unsupervised and to be a self-motivated problem-solver.
  • Must be able to drive and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Must be available to work evening hours and travel out of town for training and other events, as necessary.
