Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Visual and Performing Arts Assistant with a specific focus on Concert Band. This part-time position will provide support and assistance to our visual and performing arts department, with a primary emphasis on developing and nurturing students' musical skills in Concert Band. The assistant will work closely with the visual and performing arts teachers and collaborate with students to enhance their abilities in playing band instruments and fostering a love for band music.

REPORTS TO AND EVALUATED BY:VAPA Program Administrator, and/or Site Administrator

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assist in organizing and setting up band rehearsals, concerts, and performances.
• Support students in developing their musical skills, including proper technique, intonation, rhythm,
  and musical interpretation.
• Assist with instrument maintenance and ensure that instruments are in good working condition.
• Support the logistics of instrument rentals, repairs, and inventory management.
• Assist in the coordination of auditions, competitions, and special events related to the band
  program.
• Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student collaboration,
  growth, and appreciation for band music.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Proficiency in playing a band instrument (woodwinds, brass, percussion) and a solid
  understanding of band techniques and repertoire.
• A passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering musical growth, creativity, and personal
  development in students.
• Prior experience working with students in an educational or instructional setting is preferred.
