RSU 64 is seeking applications for the position of Director of Special Education effective July 1, 2025.
This is a full-time position that is responsible for overseeing special education, Gifted and Talented and 504 Services, dropout prevention programs, and acts as the homeless liaison for a district of approximately 1000 PreK through Grade 12 students. The director oversees all aspects of these programs and is responsible for supervising staff, ensuring that the IEP & 504 process runs efficiently and is effective in supporting student learning, growth, and development. The director prepares and manages the special education budget, and ensures that compliance is met with all State and Federal regulations. The director also facilitates federal grant funding pertaining to these programs. The ideal candidate for this position should be an involved and engaged educational leader who will encourage a positive, healthy climate for students and staff. They must be a strong communicator and be able to work collaboratively with administration, staff, families and students. The special education director is a key collaborator within the administrative executive leadership team.
Requirements/Experience: Special Education Director Certification (030) Experience as a Special Education Director or Educational Administrator preferred.
