Job Description
We are hiring Senior SAS Programmers to support Real World Evidence (RWE/RWD) initiatives at Amgen. The role focuses on manipulating large healthcare databases and generating analytical datasets to support observational research and real-world studies.
The ideal candidate will have strong SAS and SQL programming skills, experience working with claims/EHR data, and the ability to implement complex logic for cohort building and healthcare event analysis.
This is a long-term, remote, home-based position requiring excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills.
Required Skills
Minimum 4+ years of SAS statistical programming experience
Strong experience with RWE / RWD datasets (Claims, EMR, EHR, etc.)
At least 1 year of private sector experience
Strong SQL programming
Experience manipulating large healthcare databases
Experience creating complex analysis datasets
Experience building patient cohorts
Knowledge of observational research methods
Experience with regression and survival analysis
Hands-on with data sources like:
MarketScan
Optum
Medicare
Preferred Skills
Master's degree in:
Epidemiology
Biostatistics
Computer Science
Experience with OMOP Common Data Model
Experience with CDISC standards
Exposure to Python, R, Databricks, or cloud tools
Pharmaceutical industry experience
Training in epidemiological methods
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field with high statistical content.
