Job Title: Senior Backend Developer Java & Node.js

Location: 100% Remote, Canada

Experience: 7+ Years

Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior Backend Developer with deep expertise in Java and Node.js to support the development of scalable backend systems. The selected candidate will work on enterprise-grade applications, collaborating across global teams to deliver robust microservices and cloud-native solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Design and support microservices-based architecture for high-performance systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure APIs
• Support backend development with Node.js where required
• Integrate and manage applications using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, IAM, and DynamoDB
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps processes, and system monitoring tools

Must-Have Skills

• Strong experience building backend services with Java and Spring Boot
• Proven expertise in developing and maintaining microservices in production
• Hands-on experience with Node.js in live environments
• Proficiency in AWS services (Lambda, EC2, IAM, S3, DynamoDB)
• Good understanding of REST API design, security practices, and performance optimization
• Ability to troubleshoot and tune backend systems in production environments

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and collaboration tools
• Ability to contribute to architecture discussions and design reviews
