What you'll be doing:

  • Lead R&D projects, manufacturing facilities and internal/external laboratories by contributing in the area of container/closure integrity testing, as well as supporting in the areas of bioburden/sterility validations, Bacterial Endotoxin (BET), biological indicator supply, and medical device reprocessing validation.
  • Demonstrated understanding and technical expertise of theories/practices of a variety of disciplines within the microbiology landscape.
  • Displays a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside the primary area of expertise.
  • Able to design experiments and draw meaningful conclusions from lab data in support of medical device and pharmaceutical projects within negotiated deadlines.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by providing support when needed to other Microbiology Laboratory Organization team members.
  • Devise new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.  Incorporate new methods and technologies for improving existing or new products/processes.
  • Support the writing, executing, evaluating, and reviewing of microbiological protocols/reports. Provide guidance/interpretation of local, regional, and global regulations and evaluate/strengthen the current requirements in the Global Quality Policies (GQPs).
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to R&D (product development, design, and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities.
  • Implement new or improved techniques and procedures around specific tasks; write and implement SOP's. Implement research outlines for large scientific projects. Apply state-of-the-art techniques in the area of expertise to develop new or improved products
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of GxP and related regulations and guidance.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, or related discipline, with 5+ years’ relevant experience, OR MS with 3+ years’ experience, OR PhD with 0-3 years’ experience
  • Direct microbiology laboratory experience required. 
  • Knowledge in container/closure integrity (physical and microbiological methods), bacterial endotoxin, biological indicators, bioburden/sterility validations, disinfection, and/or Global Pathogen Safety (GPS) desired.
  • Proficient and working knowledge of relevant GMPs, FDA guidelines and industry standards (ASTM, ISO, PDA, USP).

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 to $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
