This is a remote position.

The Remote Data Entry Worker will play a vital role in supporting Sunrift Adventures’ back-office operations, ensuring that data from retail sales, rental services, inventory management, and vendor transactions is accurately entered, maintained, and updated. Sunrift – established in 1980 – is a well-known outdoor outfitter offering gear for hiking, cycling, paddling, climbing and more, and this role helps ensure that their digital operations remain as high-quality as their in-store experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter, update and maintain data in company systems including inventory databases, point-of-sale records, rental transaction logs (e.g., bikes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards), customer profiles, and vendor/purchase order records.
  

• Review source documents (shipping receipts, invoices, rental agreements, return logs) for completeness and accuracy before keying in data; identify discrepancies and coordinate with on-site staff for resolution.
  

• Reconcile data between systems (e.g., rental returns vs. inventory, POS sales vs. system records) and produce error or discrepancy reports for further action.
  

• Maintain organized digital records, standardize naming conventions, perform data clean-up (duplicates, outdated entries), and archive legacy records as needed.
  

• Generate regular reports (daily/weekly/monthly) summarizing key metrics – inventory status, rental usage, sales volumes, outstanding data entries – and share findings with management or operations leads.
  

• Collaborate remotely with on-site teams (retail floor, rentals, warehouse) to gather missing information, clarify data points, ensure the remote data reflects real-time activity.
  

• Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive data (customer info, vendor pricing, operational metrics) in accordance with company policies and best practices for remote work.
  

• Suggest improvements to data-entry workflows and systems, propose automation or optimizations (macros, scripts, digital tools) to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in office technology, business administration or data management preferred.
  

• Proven experience in data entry, administrative support, or remote office environments—experience with retail or rental operations is a plus.
  

• Typing proficiency (e.g., 50+ words per minute preferred) with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  

• Proficiency with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) and comfortable learning new database or business-systems tools.
  

• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently in a remote setting.
  

• Reliable remote work setup (stable internet, appropriate workspace) and good communication skills—able to collaborate via email, chat, and video with on-site teams.
  

• A background or interest in outdoor gear, retail/rental industry or adventure lifestyle is helpful, aligning with Sunrift’s culture and mission.
