On-Site Scrap Buyer

Job Summary:

The On-Site Scrap Buyer is responsible for evaluating and purchasing motors for our customers. This role involves ensuring the quality and profitability of incoming accepted motors while maintaining and creating relationships with suppliers.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include identifying accepted motors,  negotiating prices, educating yard staff on accepted motors, accurately completing documentation, and maintaining accurate in-house logs. The buyer also ensures adherence to legal and company requirements, inspects materials, and coordinates with yard personnel. Providing excellent customer service and adhering to safety procedures are also important aspects of the role.  Travel may be required for this job; must be able to travel and stay overnight. 

Qualifications:
Candidates should have experience as a Scrap Metal Buyer or in a related role as a buyer.  Strong negotiation and communication skills, familiarity with regulations and safety protocols, and excellent organizational skills are necessary.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to travel to various scrap yards in different states.  The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and be proficient with computer software like Google Drive/Sheets and Word is including all Apple platforms. Physical requirements include standing or walking for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. A high school diploma or GED is required, and being bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred.
