Position Summary:

The Paving Operator Trainee works under the guidance of experienced crew members to learn the safe and proper operation of paving equipment. This is an entry-level role for individuals looking to build a career in asphalt paving. The trainee will support the paving crew with daily tasks, equipment checks, and general job site responsibilities while gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Responsibilities:

• Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do. 
• Arrive on time and be present for the daily huddle and weekly Toolbox Talks.
• Assist in creating and maintaining a safe work environment by learning to identify potential hazards.
• Perform basic physical tasks such as bending, lifting, pushing, and climbing ladders using three-point contact.
• Stay flexible with work hours, including day or night shifts and extended hours when required.
• Listen carefully and follow verbal directions from supervisors and operators.
• Help with marking out roadway structures and assisting with project layout.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the day.
• Assist with equipment care, including cleaning and simple upkeep under supervision.
• Support the team during final project checks to ensure the work is complete and cleaned up to standard.
• Show respect and teamwork when working with others on the crew.

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 0-1 years of paving operator experience. 

Necessary Attributes:

• Safety and quality orientated.
• Strong work ethic. 
• Excellent communications skills.
• Organized; ability to multi-task; detail-oriented.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
