Outpatient Registered Nurse – FT Hornwood Clinic

West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency.

We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient.

We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria.

West Oaks Hornwood Clinic is seeking a dynamic and talented Full-time Outpatient Registered Nurse to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care under the direction of Manager, Outpatient for adults, adolescents, children and geriatric patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions.  Responsible for using the Nursing process to effectively manage the Plan of Care for each patient based on appropriate standards, policies and procedures.  The Registered Nurse is also responsible for continuing his/her own professional development to enhance practice and the profession of Nursing.  Actively participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team of the unit and performs duties as assigned.

• Perform comprehensive assessment to determine physical and mental health status
• Anticipate and recognize changes in patient's condition and determine reassessment
• Demonstrates professional clinical judgement and interventions

Requirements:

• Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing either through ADN, Diploma or BSN Program.
• Licensure and certification Required: Current Texas State Registered Nurse licensure. CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications. 
• Experience Required: Two years of inpatient psychiatric experience.  Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis and intervention with psychiatric patients.  Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects.  Knowledge of milieu management.  Ability to delegate responsibility to others as permitted in the Nurse Practice Act and monitor performance of delegated tasks.  Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures.  Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
