Position : Network Engineer with MDF/IDF
Location : will be remote and requires travel around 50%
Candidate must have own vehicle to travel to Datacenter sites based in CO, TX, NE, KT, AZ, CA
TRAVEL INVOLVED
Mandatory : Experience with datacenter and MDF/IDF closet construction design (cabling, racks, power, cooling,UPS).
Certification : CCNA or CCNP Certification Preferred
Key Job Skill Requirements: NRES Network Engineer
- Strategic Network Design & Architecture: Drive strategic planning, technical roadmaps, and architectural standards, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture and improve network availability, security, and performance.
- Expert Network Design & Implementation: Lead the creation, review, and implementation of complex network designs for dozens of simultaneous projects, ensuring adherence to IT standards and security best practices.
- Cable Plant & Data Center Logistics: Possess expert knowledge of cable plant infrastructure, data closet logistics, and the ability to interpret detailed network engineering designs.
- Vendor & Construction Liaison: Act as a primary liaison with low-voltage cabling vendors and data closet construction resources, ensuring effective communication and project execution.
- Healthcare Compliance & Security: Ensure network designs and operations strictly adhere to HIPAA, HITECH, PCI-DSS, and other relevant healthcare regulatory and compliance standards, implementing robust security strategies.
- High Availability for Clinical Systems: Design, implement, and optimize network solutions to ensure maximum uptime and redundancy for critical clinical applications (e.g., EMR/EHR, PACS, telemedicine, medical IoT).
- Advanced Network Troubleshooting & Optimization: Serve as an escalation point for complex network issues, leading performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis, particularly during high-severity operational incidents impacting patient care.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical ownership for assignments, mentor colleagues, and foster a collaborative environment, guiding the team on personal development and training.
- Change Management & IT Standards Enforcement: Oversee and facilitate IT change management processes for network engineering, enforcing adherence to IT standards and auditing the production network for compliance.
- Automation & Innovation: Identify and implement automation opportunities through scripting, and lead efforts to identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunities.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Escalation: Collaborate effectively with other infrastructure and clinical IT teams, aligning support efforts and providing escalation and resolution functions when necessary.
- Strategic Vendor Management: Oversee efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans and integrate new technologies into the network infrastructure.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning specific to network infrastructure to ensure rapid restoration of critical services.
- Monitoring & Alerting Feedback: Provide feedback to operations regarding the design, implementation, and maintenance of monitoring and alerting processes relevant to network infrastructure.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document network configurations, designs, and operational procedures meticulously to ensure audit compliance and facilitate seamless knowledge transfer.
- Clear Technical Communication: Articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability & Results-Oriented: Demonstrate adaptability to change, a results-oriented approach, and commitment to hitting aggressive roadmap milestones.
- Onsite Project Support & On-Call Availability: Be available for onsite travel (up to 50%) for project pre-work, implementations, and oversight, and participate in on-call coverage responsibilities.
Qualifications
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 6 -8 year of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required.
- 4 -6 years of experience in large complex project oversight.
- Established understanding of network connectivity and protocols.
- 4 -6 years of experience with Cisco Route Switch and Wireless infrastructure.
- Experience with datacenter and MDF/IDF closet construction design (cabling, racks, power, cooling,UPS).
- Experience or understanding of Cisco Nexus platform.
- 4 -6 years of experience with vendor management.
- Advanced experience with Cisco wireless, and strong understanding of wireless design and coverage.
- 4 -6 years of experience with WAN \System Design and Integration.
- 4 -6 years of experience with vendor management
- Proven abilities in problem management, process analysis and root cause analysis is required.
- CCNA or CCNP Certification Preferred
- Excellent judgment in determining work and problem resolution priorities and approaches.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines in a past paced work environment is required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills desired; Ability to develop and organize written documentation and procedures is required.
- Healthcare industry experience a plus.
