The estimated base salary range for this role is $97,060 to $167,750 per year. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

Armstrong World Industries is seeking an Network and Systems Administration Architect with a focus on systems recoverability and systems administration. The Network and Systems Administration Architect is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AWI's backup/DR process, for on-premises and cloud architecture. This role supports daily functions for backup and disaster recovery planning, as well as assists in any tuning, testing, and/or recovery efforts, as required.

This position will be responsible for the direct implementation, troubleshooting and management of a multi-data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic design, operation, and maintenance of the environment. This position requires excellent technical skills and proven attention to detail, process, and discipline within a production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acts as principal designer for major enterprise solutions architecture including applications, data, and infrastructure architectures as assigned.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors in support of staff augmentation and systems support in concert with Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain best-practice standards, policies, procedures, and associated training plans to ensure optimal daily operations are maintained.
  • Provides integrated systems planning and recommends new or different technologies which will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals.
  • Leads and directs multiple projects managing resources and monitoring progress.
  • Establish/maintain lines of communication with stakeholders with a view to keeping all parties informed of incidents, problems, and resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve global standardization and organizational efficiencies.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for team member's issues requiring a higher degree of expertise or discretion to resolve and ensure timely resolution of issues by focusing on root cause analysis and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Assist in the development of IT budgets (expense and capital) and estimates.
  • Provides in-depth technical consultation to clients and IT management to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of project resources as required.
  • Work collaboratively with management to identify and prioritize projects in the portfolio associated with the maintenance of existing systems, development and implementation of new systems, resolution of more complex problems and the evaluation of emergent technologies through developing business cases that include options, recommendation, cost/benefit, and risk analysis,
  • Researches and evaluates new and/or alternative solutions and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of multi-year functional roadmaps for assigned disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development of overall strategy, tactics, planning and execution of initiatives to support IT services.
  • Document necessary technical architecture design and analysis work, including project postmortem documentation and metric collection.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including documenting solutions and procedures.
  • Maintain application documentation and process topology to ensure alignment between the business strategies and the technology roadmap

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline required
    • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree
    • Advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience in backup solutions for VMware virtual and Cloud infrastructure environments
  • 5+ years experience in Oracle and SQL server database backup and recovery

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in network, server, and storage systems and application technologies, including Azure/AWS IaaS (storage/compute), VMware Cloud, HPE Primera, Dell Compellent, HPE SimpliVity, VMWare, Active Directory 2016/2022, and Azure AD.
  • Knowledge of backup strategies and products. CommVault, Zerto, Azure, and AWS experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques to elicit, analyze and document business requirements. Tactical and strategic contribution in support of overall business resiliency/recovery plans.
  • Knowledge of technologies for organizing and maintaining disaster recovery planning information.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at different levels, both in IT and Business groups and across various locations globally.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions to non-technical senior leaders and executives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Subject Matter Expert in designing and implementing business continuity/disaster recovery and high-availability plans.
  • Flexibility to balance multiple work streams and adjust to change with competing timelines and deliverables.
  • Experience in managing and leading projects. Strong administrative skills, effectiveness in developing tasks, and managing resources to achieve target dates.
  • Strong Visio skills to create IT and data flow diagrams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with and managing third-party vendors and consultant arrangements in support of projects.
