What You’ll Do:
Design and execute end-to-end research —quantitative and qualitative—across all stages of product development, from foundational exploration to concept testing, prototyping, and usability evaluation.
Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and data scientists to identify and prioritize opportunities where research can inform product direction and improve user experience.
Lead customized, high-quality studies that address both strategic and tactical questions, drawing from deep experience in mixed methods research.
Own the research process , including scoping, methodology selection, recruiting, prototyping, fieldwork, synthesis, and reporting—adapting between rigorous and scrappy approaches as needed.
Communicate insights clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders and OpenAI leadership, influencing decisions through strong storytelling and stakeholder alignment.
Build systems where needed —including scalable research frameworks or processes to address recurring product or user questions.
7+ years of experience in user experience and/or market research, ideally in high-growth or high-ambiguity environments.
Expertise in mixed methods , with fluency in qualitative techniques (e.g. interviews, usability) and quantitative approaches (e.g. surveys with large sample sizes, behavioral analysis).
Track record of strong stakeholder collaboration , especially with senior product, data science and design partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills —you can distill complexity, tailor messages to different audiences, and influence decisions at all levels.
Experience building systems or frameworks to scale research, answer recurring questions, or improve decision quality.
Comfort with ambiguity and operational mindset —you can break through red tape, rethink processes, and find paths forward.
Proven ability to drive impact , with research that meaningfully shaped product, design, or business outcomes.
A mindset of ownership and accountability —you see yourself as a strategic operator, not just a researcher.
