Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Oversee the architecture, development, and maintenance of HelloGov AI’s platform, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
• Infrastructure Ownership: Take responsibility for the platform’s infrastructure, including implementing cybersecurity measures and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Cybersecurity and Compliance: Lead efforts to achieve and maintain ISO or other document-processing-related compliance standards and assist in acquiring cyber insurance policies.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a small but dynamic team of developers, engineers, and product specialists to achieve technical and business objectives.
• Operational Excellence: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, prioritize projects, and align technical execution with business goals.
• Product Oversight: Ensure the stability, efficiency, and compliance of the product while implementing robust data retention policies and maintaining alignment with government regulations.
• Scaling and Hiring: Build an in-house engineering team to support HelloGov AI’s rapid expansion.

Requirements

• Proven experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably at a high-growth startup.
• Strong technical background in software development, cloud infrastructure, and AI technologies.
• Expertise in cybersecurity, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to document processing or government services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage outsourced engineering resources.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with AI or automation solutions is a significant advantage.

Technical Requirements:

• Frontend Development:
• Frameworks & Libraries:
• Expertise in Next.js for building performant React-based applications.
• Proficiency with MUI (Material-UI) for UI design, theming, and component integration.
• Experience with Sass for advanced CSS styling (client portal).
• API Integration:
• Hands-on experience with Apollo GraphQL Client for API queries and mutations.
• CI/CD & Deployment:
• Familiarity with deployment pipelines on Vercel , including CI/CD workflows .
• Backend Development:
• Frameworks & Tools:
• Proficient in Node.js and Express.js for backend automation tasks.
• Advanced knowledge of Nest.js for building scalable and maintainable server applications.
• Database Management:
• Experience with PostgreSQL (Client Portal database).
• Knowledge of Cosmos DB (Admin Portal database).
• Automation & APIs:
• Proficient in using Puppeteer for headless browser automation.
• Familiar with Apollo TypeGraphQL for API schema development and server integration.
• Payment & Email Services:
• Experience with Ecrypt for payment gateway integration.
• Knowledge of Mailgun for automated email communication.
• DevOps and Cloud Services:
• Deployment & Hosting:
• Experience with AWS EC2 instances for application deployment.
• Familiarity with Azure Blob storage for PDF and other file management.
• Monitoring & Performance:
• Experience with Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring.
• Other Integrations:
• Knowledge of Easypost for managing shipping labels.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage tasks efficiently and deliver within deadlines.
