Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department testing on an annual basis thereafter

Positions are limited term with the possibility of becoming permanent full time in the future. Limited Term positions are 12 months and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Working Conditions

Position is located at Avenal State Prison in Avenal, CA.

Special Requirements

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive an ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

This classification offers a retention bonus. Employees who are employed at Avenal State Prison for 12 consecutive, qualifying pay periods, will receive an annual $2,600 recruitment and retention bonus.
