Job Description

  • Helps members reduce expenses, access credit under better terms, increase savings, and build assets
  • Provides a range of financial services that are tailored to the needs of the individual members.
  • Conduct financial counseling sessions weekly to members of the program. Follow up for engagement and goal steps and completion.
  • Works directly with clients to provide high-quality financial coaching via individualized counseling
  • Provides ongoing support and continue to actively engage clients to promote financial health
  • Assesses clients’ financial health through one-on-one coaching and then develop a tailored set of recommendations to help clients improve their financial position and pursue their goals
  • Exercises professional discretion to accurately assess each client’s unique situation and effectively develop personalized plans of action
  • Provides concrete recommendations for debt reduction, credit improvement, money management, use of financial services, asset protection and the pursuit of short- and long-term goals
  • Maintain confidential records for each member and document in a timely manner in the customer database, submitting outcomes, engagement, and follow up. Showing all efforts to outcomes.
  • Provide financial literacy workshops for members and connect to additional external resources that will support members to reach financial savings, credit increase/ establish goals
  • Support with EITC during tax prep season. Partner with local free vita tax prep services to help members save money. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft tools, Excel, PP, Word.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of full-time work experience in personal finance, education, social services, community organizing or a related field
  • Specialized knowledge in financial empowerment services to low- and moderate-income individuals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ideally coaching and facilitation skills in non-traditional settings
  • Ability to exercise knowledge-based professional judgement and discretion to adapt services as needed
  • Strong attention to detail with a willingness to learn new skills and techniques to promote quality, efficiency, and successful customer outcomes
