Job Description

The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.

The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018 and 2023) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.

Position Overview

Houston Dynamo FC is seeking a creative and operational leader responsible for overseeing the video production across all HDFC brands. The Director will manage a team of video producers, serve as a primary producer, and partner closely with the creative, social, marketing, partnerships, and game presentation teams to develop best-in-class content the fuels fan passion, supports revenue goals, and enhances the Club’s visibility across digital and traditional platforms.

This role requires a skilled leader with strong creative instincts and operational excellence. The Director will manage pre-production planning, live and studio shoots, editing workflows, and final delivery – ensuring content is compelling, brand-aligned, and consistently executed at a high level. This position will also serve as the primary point of contact for all MLS and Apple TV related content requests, manage scheduling and distribution of video team resources, and ensure all video content is delivered on brand, on time, and on brief.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of video producers, providing day-to-day direction, feedback, and performance development
  • Schedule and assign production crews for matches, training, studio shoots, events, and other Club content needs
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all video content, ensuring on-brand, on-time, and on-strategy delivery across platforms
  • Supervise contract labor, freelance editors/shooters, and third-party production partners as needed
  • Act as lead producer for major projects, including original series, player profiles, branded features, sizzle reels, and internal presentations
  • Work closely with stakeholders across marketing, partnerships, social media, creative, game presentation, and communications to meet business objectives through content
  • Translate creative briefs into actionable production plans, overseeing concept development, scripting, shooting, editing, and delivery
  • Coordinate league-mandated content requirements across internal and external workflows
  • Manage the Club’s video production workflows, including asset management, media storage, and post-production pipelines
  • Strategize efficient and scalable content delivery processes aligned with brand and league standards
  • Oversee production equipment usage, maintenance, upgrades, and purchases
  • Partner with social and digital teams to align on platform strategies and optimize content for engagement, reach, and brand impact
  • Work with the Senior Director of Content and Creative to develop annual content plans, campaign timelines, and storytelling initiatives
  • Stay up to date with emerging video trends, platform best practices, visual storytelling techniques, and evolving technologies in sports and entertainment
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the video content and production team
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Film Production, Media, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in video production, including at least 3 years in a team leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-performing video production team and deliver a wide range of creative assets
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder), video editing software, and comfortable with post-production workflows
  • Strong knowledge of professional cinema cameras, lighting design, on-location shoots, and studio production environments
  • Experience producing for multiple platforms – digital, social, in-stadium, and broadcast
  • Demonstrated success managing teams and creative talent, providing mentorship and performance feedback
  • Excellent storytelling instincts, project management skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Available to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
