Director of Learning Support/Support Specialist (2 locations)

Location : Roman Catholic High School for Boys and Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School (Split Position)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking special educator/learning support specialist to serve both Roman Catholic High School and Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School. This 12-month, full-time position will be shared between the two schools, providing direct support to students with diverse learning needs while simultaneously helping each school evaluate and enhance its overall learning support programming. The ideal candidate will help develop a strategic vision for the future of diverse learners at both institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support

  • Interpret psychoeducational evaluations, IEPs, and 504 plans to create and implement effective accommodation and support plans.
  • Support students in strengthening executive functioning skills such as organization, self-advocacy, time management, and study strategies.
  • Oversee and facilitate testing accommodations as needed.

Teacher Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between students, learning support, and general education faculty.
  • Provide ongoing support and professional development as needed to classroom teachers on differentiation, inclusive practices, executive functioning strategies, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Help teachers implement accommodations and monitor their effectiveness.

Parental Engagement

  • Maintain consistent and supportive communication with parents/guardians to discuss student profess and home-school collaboration strategies.
  • Participate in parent meetings and team conferences to support the whole child.

Strategic Program Development

  • Partner with school leadership to assess current learning support services and identify gaps or areas for growth.
  • Contribute to the creation of a multi-year strategic plan for building out each school’s learning support program, aligned with best practices and the evolving needs of students.
  • Research, propose, and help implement innovative models of support that are scalable and sustainable within the school context.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct informal assessments to identify student strengths and areas of need.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, services provided, and programmatic outcomes.
  • Use data to inform instruction, accommodations, and broader program decisions.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching or direct support experience with high school students with learning differences.
  • Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting IEPs, psychoeducational reports, and implementing accommodation plans.

Skills :

  • Deep understanding of learning disabilities, executive functioning, trauma-informed care, and differentiated instruction.
  • Skilled in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and facilitating change within a school setting.
  • Proficiency with educational technologies and assistive tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a dual-school environment.
