Description Director of IT Infrastructure Location: Irving, TX (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-time | Exempt
Position Overview The
Director of IT Infrastructure is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, operating, and continuously improving a hybrid infrastructure spanning an on-premises data center, a colocation facility, and an Azure cloud footprint. This role owns day-to-day infrastructure operations (servers, storage, networking, cloud services, and end-user compute), while driving the long-term strategy for reliability, scalability, performance, security, and cost optimization. Over the next six months, the Director will lead the migration to a new colocation site and establish redundancy for the on-prem environment in the cloud or a secondary colocation.
Essential Functions Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture - Develop and maintain a 3-year roadmap aligned with business goals, emphasizing scalability, redundancy, and security
- Provide architecture leadership for Nutanix, Cisco Meraki, O365/M365
Operations & Reliability - Own uptime and performance of all infrastructure services, meeting agreed RTO/RPO and SLA targets
- Implement and refine monitoring, alerting, and capacity management processes
- Champion ITIL-aligned change, incident, and problem management practices with root cause analysis
Security Ownership - Drive the security architecture for LES, set policies, harden platforms, and remediate vulnerabilities
- Manage 3rd-party SOC relationships
- Perform independent vulnerability assessments as needed
- Ensure patching, configuration baselines, and privileged access are tightly managed
Project Leadership - Plan and execute the upcoming data center migration (colo to colo) on time and on budget
- Lead future cloud migration/DR initiatives, produce risk analyses, and deliver decision packets to leadership
- Define additional infrastructure improvement projects and oversee execution
Vendor & Budget Management - Manage contracts and performance of colo, cloud, network, telecom, and hardware vendors
- Negotiate renewals and new services
- Track infrastructure OPEX/CAPEX and identify cost savings opportunities
Team Development & Culture - Build a high-performing team that values change control, documentation, risk awareness, and continuous improvement
- Mentor engineers and create career paths and training plans
Required Education And Experience - 10+ years in infrastructure engineering/operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated success administering Nutanix, Cisco Meraki networking, Microsoft O365/M365, and managing data center environments
- Proven experience owning or co-owning an enterprise security program (patching, hardening, SIEM/SOC collaboration)
- Strong knowledge of data center relocations, hybrid cloud architecture, disaster recovery/business continuity planning (DR/BCP), and ITIL processes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in environmental services or other 24×7 operational industries
Working Environment - General office conditions with periods of sitting
