Who we’re looking for:

The Director of Finance is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This individual will collaborate closely with executive leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making and business growth.

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s goals and growth initiatives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for executive leadership for strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial matters, business risks, and opportunities.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying variances and areas for improvement.
  • Provide clear financial reports and dashboards to leadership and stakeholders.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure the organization’s financial stability.
  • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and investment strategies.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements, and internal controls.
  • Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Oversee audits, liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with operational strategies.
  • Support business units with financial insights for project evaluations, cost control, and profitability analysis.

Requirements

Qualifications or Competency:

  • 8-10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 3-5 years in a senior financial management role. Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior management role, ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience in a high-growth organization.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to develop financial strategies, manage budgets, and drive business performance.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience in [industry-specific experience, e.g., healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, non-profit] is a plus.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant financial certifications strongly preferred Business, finance, or accounting degree mandatory. MBA preferred. CPA preferred.
