Job Overview

The Contractor Consultants is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Foreman to support and lead field operations on heavy civil construction projects. Working closely with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager, the Foreman is responsible for managing daily on-site construction activities and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership:
    • Lead by example in implementing company and client safety policies.
    • Conduct and oversee effective daily safety meetings.
    • Ensure job site safety compliance, including use of appropriate safety equipment.
    • Complete all required safety reports within 24 hours.
  • Construction Planning & Execution:
    • Review and interpret construction documents, including plans, specifications, and drawings.
    • Plan and communicate daily work goals in advance to crew members.
    • Implement appropriate means and methods to achieve safe and efficient production.
    • Provide on-the-job training and instruction on construction and safety procedures.
    • Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized job site.
    • Utilize company anti-theft systems to protect equipment and property.
  • Project Documentation & Reporting:
    • Accurately maintain timecards and construction records (daily diaries, change orders, RFIs, submittals, etc.).
    • Take and document job site photographs as required.
    • Communicate project progress, challenges, and recommendations to supervisors.
    • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and protect company interests through accurate documentation.
  • Relationship & Team Management:
    • Foster strong relationships with project stakeholders, including owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors.
    • Promote teamwork and maintain open, positive communication with internal and external project partners.
Qualifications

  • 3+ years of construction operations experience, with direct expertise in civil construction required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and ability to learn construction management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, subcontracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to manage and train field personnel effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to remote construction sites as needed.
  • Flexibility to work the hours required to complete projects successfully.
  • Valid driver's license and a motor vehicle record that meets company insurance requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and alcohol test.
  • Must be able to work in variable outdoor conditions (heat, cold, wet, humid, elevated areas, vibration, moving machinery).
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of construction work, including standing, lifting, and operating equipment safely.
