Carilion Clinic is seeking experienced midwives to join an independent midwifery program in Roanoke, VA. Carilion Clinic Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) averages 3,000 births a year with a Level-III NICU and is enthusiastically committed to incorporating independent midwifery services into its award-winning care. Midwives will provide L&D coverage at CRMH and see patients in a Roanoke-based ambulatory clinic. 8 and 12 hour shifts.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program, including preceptorship required.

Experience: One to three years experience required with midwifery preferred.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Must have valid Virginia Drivers license. Must have collaborative agreement on file between the physician and midwife to meet State Board regulatory requirement.

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Must own/operate reliable form of transportation. Must have clear criminal background check. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, includingelectronic medical records.
