Bioinformatics Analyst Position-Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research, St. Jude Pediatric Translational Neuroscience Initiative, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has established an expansive and multicomponent initiative in translational neuroscience with a mission to understand and treat catastrophic childhood neurological disease. This initiative integrates basic and clinical neuroscience and partners with industry and foundations to develop and implement novel therapies. The Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research (CPNDR) is the basic science component of PTNI and seeks a Bioinformatics analyst to assist CPNDR faculty with a range of bioinformatics support. We are seeking an individual with bioinformatics and human genetics expertise who has an interest in neurological disease research. This individual will leverage available state-of-the-art tools and enhance existing bioinformatics capabilities within CPNDR. Specific areas of focus include bulk and single-cell transcriptomics from patient cells, organoids, and animal models for rare disease gene discovery, analysis of patient disease mutations, and comparisons across disorders. Experience with multiple sequencing platforms including both short- and long-read sequencing is preferred. Bioinformatic approaches to identify targetable regions of the genome for therapeutic strategies, and the management and integration of multi-omics data (DNA/RNA/methylation) are also areas of interest. Additionally, experience in the creation and/or management of GUI applications/databases for storage of sequencing results from various multi-omic applications and management of clinical datasets from various sources would be an advantage. The research environment at St. Jude is outstanding. Investigators have access to cutting edge institutional shared resources, which support broad research endeavors and includes computational biology, genomics, proteomics, CRISPR-based genome editing, mouse modeling, iPSC disease modelling, cell sorting, live cell imaging, spatial and single cell omics and advanced image acquisition, processing and analysis, amongst other specific departmental research infrastructure. St Jude Children's Research Hospital is a private, not-for-profit institute that is internationally recognized for its commitment to performing cutting edge research and providing state of the art clinical services, with the goal to improve the outcome for children with catastrophic diseases.
